The Airsoft XM8 has become a popular choice for today’s airsoft gamers yet despite it’s popularity, the gun has become more and more difficult to buy over recent years.

In fact if you are looking to purchase an Airsoft XM8 rifle you may have struggled to find any available weapons and this has been a big problem during 2009 and the early part of 2010. For what ever reason, whether it be due to lack of manufacture or suppliers deciding not to stock the weapon, the XM8 Airsoft Rifle has started to become a bit of a rarity.

Together with these problems, the Airsoft gamer of today is also presented with a vast difference in quality between the Airsoft XM8 produced between the different manufacturers.

The Airsoft XM8 has been seen sold for as little as $50 right upto $400 and with every thing in between.

For the most part this has been because of the different materials used as well the operating system utilised, such as the weapon being sping loaded or an automatic electric rifle.

So what are you to do and what gun are you to choose?

Well firstly we would only recommend either one of these two models based on price and quality :

The first is the XM8 R10 AEG Rifle produced by WELL. This weapon ranges in price from anywhere around $80 right upto $150

The R10 is an inexpensive, easy and fun to use, skirmishable weapon that is compatible with TM style mages and it can also utilise aftermarket optics. The over riding feeling with this weapon is ‘plastic’ although with a  High Velocity – Approx. 350 fps it makes for a great mid level entry weapon that will serve you well as you get started with Airsoft.

The second model and in fact normally the only model that we would recommend is the Gen II or Gen III XM8 AEG made by SRC. This weapon is also refered to as the TSD Tactical XM8.

This model can range in price from $150 dollars upto around $400 although it is a completely different weapon to that of it’s lesser friend above.
